A one-time code field for React Native. It draws its cells over one hidden TextInput and reads codes from SMS with Google Play services on Android.

What I built

  • A rewrite of my 2024 package @sectiontn/otp-input that keeps none of its code or API.
  • Reading SMS needs no permissions: it uses the SMS User Consent or Retriever API, and WebOTP on the web.
  • Paste and autofill find the code in 123-456 or in a whole message.
  • Arabic-Indic, Persian, Devanagari and full-width digits become ASCII digits.
  • One labeled input for screen readers, with spoken status changes.
  • CI runs e2e tests on Android, iOS and the web, and an Android build on the lowest React Native the peer range allows.
